Someone to Watch Over Me | You Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog |
We Gotta Get Out of This Place is the nineteenth episode of ALF's second season. It originally aired on February 22, 1988.
Plot Summary[]
ALF persuades Jody to crash in the Tanners' house, but he joins her in a condo.
[]
Willie and ALF are playing chess in the kitchen and ALF is losing. The phone rings and while Willie answers, ALF cheats and moves some of the pieces. It's Jodi on the other line and she tells ALF she needs a place to stay because her apartments are being turned into condos. Willie leaves the room and ALF asks Lynn to take over for Willie on the chess game. Lynn moves a piece and ALF is checkmated
Act One[]
The family is eating dinner and discussing Jodi staying with them. Kate is concerned about Jodi discovering that ALF is an alien, but Lynn convinces her to relent. ALF prepares for Jodi's arrival by moving all the furniture in the living room into a pile because he's concerned about Jodi's blindness preventing her from not bumping into it. Jodi arrives, and thanks the family for helping her.
Two Weeks Later...
ALF and Jodi are in the kitchen and playing "guess the cheese." ALF gives Jodi a slice of Monterrey Jack he punched holes into in an attempt to fool her into thinking its Swiss. Kate discovers the newspaper having been thrown into the trash again, and it's revealed ALF did it because he doesn't want Jodi to find a new apartment so she'll stay longer. While she calls to inquire about one of the apartments, ALF says that if Jodi leaves that he will too. Jodi reveals that the apartment is available, and ALF tells Lucky that he'll be gone for a while.
Act Two[]
ALF is at Jodi's apartment and thinks that her Braille books are a connect-the-dots book. Jodi arrives back with groceries, and explains to ALF what Braille is. Jodi then asks ALF (due to their gender differences) he he's ever going to try anything inappropriate, and why he never leaves the house. ALF then says it's because he's very old. Jodi then tells ALF she's going to make dinner, and ALF tries to order a pizza again. When Jodi prepares dinner, he's upset about having vegetables again and accidentally breaks a glass when setting the table. ALF then puts lumps in the carpet as speed bumps and puts curb feelers on Jodi's shoes. Jodi then tells ALF that she feels she's settled enough ready for him to go, she then sends her into her bedroom as a diversion from her making a phone call to Willie and letting him know to come over and convince ALF to leave. Jodi then goes downstairs to do her laundry, and ALF is paid a visit by Kate and Willie who tell ALF that Jodi called and wants her space. Jodi returns, and then ALF has a private conversation with her while Kate & Wille go into another room to give them privacy. Jodi gives ALF a Braille book as a gift before he leaves.
Epilogue[]
At the Tanners, ALF tries to give Lucky an experience of being blind by putting his face in his mouth. Kate stops him, so ALF puts on some sunglasses, and pretending to be Ray Charles, sings "Georgia on my Mind"
