We're in the Money is the fourth episode of ALF's fourth and final season. It originally aired on Oct. 9, 1989.
Plot Summary[]
When ALF plays with the Home Investors Network, thinking that it is a game, he earns $5,000 in the stock market. Willie catches the fever and allows him to invest some more money.
After a setback, Willie decides that its time to quit, but allows ALF to invest a portion of his profits. ALF loses the money, but becomes obsessed with trying again.

Willie is in the garage at his computer. ALF asks if he'd be in the way if he used it, and Willie says he's looking for a birthday present for Kate on a computer shopping service, He's having difficulty choosing between high heel pumps and a cubic zirconia. ALF says he wants to play Donkey Kong. Kate comes in to ask about why the Salvation Army has come to pick up their TV. ALF says it's to make room for the new TV he wants. Willie goes out to talk to them, ALF then gets on the computer and discovers the Home Investors Network,.
Act One[]
Willie is showing Brian and Lynn the shoes he got for Kate as she comes in with the groceries. Willie then asks if she knows anything about a letter coming about some stock market investments. Kate says it must be ALF. ALF is in the garage and discovers he's made $5,000. Willie comes in to tell ALF that he's playing with real money much to his surprise. Willie is in a panic, but when ALF tells him that he made money instead of losing it, he says that he'll take it as luck and tells ALF that he can only play the market on paper.
In the morning, Brian comes into the kitchen telling her he has a craving for French Toast and sausage. Kate tells Brian to call ALF in for breakfast but he's upset about his computer privileges being taken away. He then comes in with a half-sarcastic apology and hands Willie his paper... but there's more. ALF tells him that he made $11,000 on paper from his stock market picks. ALF says he chooses companies whose initials spell out Melmacian holidays. Willie dismisses it as dumb luck. That night in bed Willie tells Kate that they should let ALF try and invest a little money. Kate says it would be ok but only with the money he already made. Willie says he's going to go and tell ALF but he was already eavesdropping on them.
Act Two[]
ALF and Willie are in the garage.. Willie is pacing because he's excited about having made $20,000 in the market, and suggests investing in AT&T, But ALF suggests Boston Latrine Chemicals because BLaCh was an important holiday on Melmac, and that its outdoor concert season where portapotties will be used more. When Kate's birthday arrives, Lynn got her a sweater, and ALF tries to rush everyone so he can catch the Tokyo market opening. Brian gives her a heart he made in art class, and Willie got her a crystal vase from France having sent the pumps back to Taiwan. ALF then gives Kate a pair of diamond earrings... which he bought with her credit card. Willie warns him saying that ALF's spending will cause them to lose the $20,000, but ALF corrects him saying $10,000 and that he lost half the money he made. Kate tells ALF that Willie is right and Lynn chimes in saying ALF should be allowed to share the profits. Willie tells ALF he can keep $2,500 of what's left.
ALF is in the garage at the computer very jittery from having drunk a lot of coffee. Brian calmly comes in and ALF asks Brian to push some buttons on the computer for ALF. He glares at the screen and then asks Brian if he could take some of his money from Dorothy, and the pleads for Willie's ATM card PIN number throttling him. Kate comes in to ask what's going on and ALF says he was teaching Brian a Katherine Hepburn impression
Back in the family room Kate tells Willie what went on, and ALF then walks in with a coffee urn. He then tries to guess Willie's PIN number Willie confronts ALF and he says he just needs to make one more buy. ALF is in a fit until Willie feigns throwing a punch at him. Willie tells him why he got that way
Epilogue[]
In the garage, ALF walks in on Willie at the computer again, and Willie tells him that if the money ALF made is more than the cost of all the things he broke, that he'll pay ALF the difference. Willie shows ALF the list,
