Someone to Watch Over Me is the seventeenth and eighteenth episode of ALF's second season. It originally aired on February 8-15, 1988.
Part 1[]
ALF lends a hand with the neighborhood block patrol and ends up confronting a burglar in the Ochmoneks' house, and scares him away, but is trapped there when the police arrive and surround the house

Kate is giving ALF a haircut, but is interrupted by the doorbell, and ALF welshes on the $2 fee. Raquel and Jake are at the door saying they've been robbed, and that their TV and painting of Dogs Playing Pool were taken. She's unable to call the police because their phone was also taken so she calls them from the Tanner's house. After they leave, ALF asks if he missed anything
Act One[]
In the living room, Jake comes over while ALF is playing cards. Kate then mentions she just heard from Mrs. Litwak that they were robbed too. The doorbell rings and it's Raquel and Trevor. They say that they're forming a neighborhood watch, and want to have a organizing meeting at the Tanners house but Kate suggests the Ochmoneks host since it was their idea. At the Ochmonek's house Officer Griswold talks about how a neighborhood watch works . Mrs.Byrd makes a few cynical remarks, and Willie is drafted as block captain since he has a CB radio In the garage, ALF and Willie are setting up for the watch program, and they talk to Trevor and Mrs. Byrd, who are arguing again. ALF then says he should talk to them, and when he does he gets them to shape up, Willie, impressed, lets ALF take over.
Act Two[]
In the living room, at dinner, ALF has declined to join them in favor of continuing his job as block captain. In the garage, ALF is becoming verbally demanding and pushy to Trevor and Mrs. Byrd about their duties. At the police station the phone rings and ALF has called in speaking to Griswold. He's reporting suspicious activity which turns out to just be someone taking out their trash.
In the living room, Willie is playing Jefferson Airplane's "The Letter" on the piano while singing along. The doorbell rings, and it's the Ochmoneks, saying that they and several others are quitting the watch program due to being pushed around by ALF. They tell Willie not to try and contact them because they're headed to Tijuana Mexico for some shopping, but Jake wants to stay behind. In the garage, ALF is unable to reach anyone on the radio because they've all quit. Willie comes in and fires ALF from being block captain, and leaves.
Just then ALF notices a prowler at the Ochmonek's on the CCTV, and calls Willie who hangs up on him. ALF then calls Sgt. Griswold to report it and is also hung up on. Because of this ALF decides to go over and confront the burglar himself. The cops pondering over their duties decide to go over and check it out.
Inside the Ochmoek's house, ALF yells at the burglar to freeze, but the burglar runs away. Before ALF can leave, several police cars show up, sirens blaring, demanding ALF come out with his hands up

ALF is trapped in the house, by the police not knowing the prowler has escaped. ALF stalls them by masquerading as the burglar and claiming he has hostages.

Act One[]
At the Tanners, the sirens are audible, and they think it's another false alarm. ALF calls them from the Ochmoneks to tell them he's trapped in the house after scaring the burglar away. ALF compares his situation to the movies "Dog Day Afternoon" and "Butch Cassidy" and Willie goes over to try and intervene. ALF yells to the police that he has hostages inside. When the police ask if the hostages are ok, ALF impersonates fake hostages saying they're fine. A crowd led by Mrs. Byrd is outside and when the police threaten to use tear gas, she leads the crowd in chanting "Tear Gas" ALF turns on the TV to a show with a gunfight and the police momentarily think its's real. ALF then yells a demand for 5 pizzas and a cat to feed the hostages whom he says are hungry. Griswold then sends Gafney to get the pizzas but he balks so he sends Johnson instead. Griswold then mentions that they'll send for a SWAT team. Willie offers to intervene but is denied, so he goes back home to make a phone call.
Jake, Kate, Bryan and Lynn are in the Tanner's kitchen, and Willie comes in to call ALF. Willie warns ALF that the SWAT team is coming
Act Two[]
Doug Gould a TV correspondent is on announcing about the happenings at the Ochmoneks. He then asks Griswold about the hostages, whom he says are hungry and unharmed, An officer then interrupts saying the food has arrived. Gould then interviews Mrs. Byrd who hates the show. When he cuts to commercial, Byrd then stoically criticizes his show, and then propositions him for one night stand saying she's a widow.
The police are starting to eat the pizzas, and ALF yells that he smells it and asks for it. The cops then tell him to come out and get it. ALF then yells that everyone lost their appetite. Willie then tells the police that maybe it's all for publicty and that maybe the bad guy will leave of the cops go away.
The Ochmoneks arrive back to find all the commotion and Gould goes back on to interview them Trevor asks why he's targeted instead of the Tanners who have nicer stuff. The Ochmoneks then crash at the Tanners, and they tell Kate that they were halfway there before realizing they forgot to lock their doors. The phone rings and it's ALF. He talks to Kate about his predicament, An officer then tells Griswold, that the SWAT team will be late becaus they stormed the wrong house by mistake.
Willie runs into the house and ALF thanks him for helping. ALF then gives an idea about how to get out which would not work, so Willie then suggests ALF hiding while he uses the walkie talkies to fool the police about him still being in the house.Wille opens the Ochonek's laundry basket and ALF goes inside it while Willie puts the walkie talkie a the window. Willie comes out to tell the police that there is no sign of the burglar. The police come into the house, and then ALF gets on the radio issuing demands. The cops then leave the house to search the neighborhood. Griswold then commends Willie for his hard work, and then tells ALF the coast is clear, but he still has to carry ALF out inside the laundry basket. The crowd outside chants Willie's name as he comes out of the house.
Epilogue[]
In the living room, ALF sets a security system while Brian watches, Willie comes home, and when he opens the door, several loud sirens and klaxons go off accompanied by flashing lights.
