Running Scared is the seventeenth episode of ALF's third season. It originally aired on Feb. 13, 1989.

Plot Summary[]

Teaser[]

ALF has flooded the house. Willie asks why and ALF, says he wanted to make a skating rink. Willie then goes to rent a pump. The phone rings and when ALF answers, the caller addresses him and says he knows ALF is an alien, and demands being paid $3,000 or hell turn him into the authorities

Act One[]

Kate talks to Willie about ALF apologizing for all the things he's done. Trevor then knocks on the door and says "I'll take it" He then shows them a for sale sign that was on the house and Kate says that the sign was put up by someone as a prank. ALF is in the other room recording a note. Kate and Willie come in and ask what's going on with the sign. ALF then tells them about the extortionist that called. Willie then suggests it wasn't a crank. Later ALF is at the house alone and when the phone rings, the answering machine picks up with ALF saying he's dead. Willie tells him to pickup and change the message. That night in ALF's attic room, Lynn comes up to console him and that ALF overstates a lot. ALF gets a call from the extortionist again. He asks if the money is ready and threatens to have the Tanner's put in jail

Act Two[]

Late that night there is a loud knock on the door, and it's Immigration. They tell Willie they're here looking for an illegal alien. Willie asks if they have a search warrant, to which Lee produces. Willie then yells to warn ALF, and the agents head to the attic to look for him. Brian then finds a note from ALF saying that the extortionist called back so he fled in the car and to look for it on Highway 71 near Edwards Air Force Base. ALF then is seen driving there wearing a red hoodie. Back at the Tanner's house, the agents ask who lives in the attic and found the remnants of 50 TV dinners. Willie says that they hoard. When asked how they suspected of them having a illegal alien, they say that his name could not be matched to a Social Security Number. Willie tells them to leave because they didn't find anyone.. Trevor shows up and asks what's going on, he mentions that the visitors were Immigration agents, and Trevor thinks they were there for Willie. He mentions his cousin is a lawyer, and hands him a business card and asks him to call the number and ask for Inmate number 24601 Willie then asks to borrow Trevors car so he goes out to look for ALF. Willie finds ALF in a barn, where he has run out of gas. He explains to ALF that the immigration agent thought he was an illegal alien and not a space alien. Before they leave ALF says he wants to free the Holstein cow first, because ALF thinks they she's going to be slaughtered, but Willie says that it's a dairy cow. The farmer then arrives asking what's up and thinks Willie is a chicken thief. Willie tells him that he ran out of gas. The farmer offers Willie a gallon of gas for $20 and that the nearest gas station is a 4 hour walk which would be pretty cold for being out in pajamas. The farmer goes to fill a can and ALF gets ready to leave.

Epilogue[]

Willie is on the phone with the INS and found out that they had long suspected Lee Fraser, the agent that blackmailed ALF was doing this and now they've suspended him pending an investigation.
