Love on the Rocks is the fifteenth episode of ALF's fourth and final season. It originally aired on Jan. 15, 1990.

Plot Summary[]

When Margaret calls Neal and wants to get back together, she suggests that they go straight to Las Vegas and get remarried. ALF stows away in the car and convinces Neal that he shouldn't go through with it.

Teaser[]

Neal's new girlfriend, Maxine is talking to Kate and Willie about a psychic experience she had while she was driving, and how she and Neal have been lovers in previous lives. Neal asks her what the thinks of her and says that in a previous life they destroyed her village.

Act One[]

Lynn is rehearsing her audition to for the role Joan of Arc in a college play. Neal shows up and says that they'll never guess what happened. Brian correctly guesses that his ex-wife Margaret is coming to town to ask to take her back, Willie and everyone tries to talk him out of it. ALF, Kate and Willie are watching TV, and ALF wants to see My Mother the Car comparing it to Mister Ed. Lynn comes in to say she did not get the part and instead is playing a male knight and shares her lines with six other students. Neal comes in to tell everyone they were right about Margaret, and that he told her to take a cab in from the airport. He then says he wants Willie to reject her for him. Later Margaret comes and rings the bell. The family goes into the kitchen to give Neal and Marget some privacy. Neal opens the door and surprised to see how much weight she's lost. She says it was a combination of diet, exercise, and surgery. ALF is spying on him and then notices them making out on the couch.

Act Two[]

In the morning Kate suggests that they invite him to the movie they're about to see. Willie is still skeptical about her, but still decides to go to the movies. While they're gone, ALF is watching TV and the phone rings It's Neal calling to let them know that he and Margaret are headed to Las Vegas to get remarried, and to tell everyone the good news. ALF then wants to help stop Neal from making another mistake. On the way to Vegas, Margaret talks about her sister, and her four sons moving back in with them. Neal then is startled by noticing ALF has stowed away and weaves into the next lane.


Neal and Margaret pull into a 24 hour wedding chapel, and Margaret goes in first to freshen up. ALF then tells Neal he came along to stop Neal from making the biggest mistake of his life.. again. Neal is beginning to doubt himself, and goes inside. Margaret and Neal are inside waiting for the couple ahead of them in line to get married. When it's their turn, the minister tells them about prices including a basic wedding, added videotape and rice, and a regular or fat Elvis witness. They opt for the basic wedding. The minister noticing the same last names, makes sure they're not first cousins, because they'd have to go to Texas for that. Neal excuses himself ostensibly to go to the bathroom, but goes out to see ALF. Neal confesses to him that he doesn't love Margaret anymore. He's upset about how to break it to her, but ALF gives him pep talk. Neal goes back in to see Margaret sitting in a pew having a snack. Neal begins to talk to her about how he feels. and confesses he can't go through with remarrying her, and that his earlier excitement was about it was more about who the used to be. Margaret and Neal agree they should remain friends, and he offers her a ride home but she says she's fine.


In the other room, ALF is heard winning big at a slot machine.

Epilogue[]

Willie and Kate tell Neal he did the right thing, But questions the wisdom taking ALF to see a Las Vegas show. Neal says, that Margaret left her parka behind, and ALF says that nobody was looking at the audience because it was Nudes on Ice
