Laura, played by Carla Gugino, was a love interest of Jake's. She lives at 111 Hick St. (2 blocks and 13 feet from the Tanner residence). She likes L.A. Law, she is writing an essay entitled "Harriet Tubman: Runaway Slave," and she takes piano lessons.
Her dad is a policeman and she has a pet named Fluffy. Jake was at first too shy to even speak to her. When ALF learns of his shyness, he helps Jake out by writing love poems on his behalf. She is impressed with the poems and thinks he's cute, so they go on a date together. Jake is uncertain if he is going to continue going out with her because she has a high-pitched, whiny, and annoying laugh. (Episode: Standing in the Shadows of Love)
