Background information[]

Production history[]

  • Premiere airdate: November 19, 1988

Continuity[]

  • The title may be a reference to the 1969 song "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother." The live action series would similarly borrow a title from this song with "He Ain't Heavy, He's Willie's Brother."
  • This is the only episode that takes place on a planet other than Melmac.
  • One of the Muklukians says “Alien mammals are trying to take over our planet.” This implies that Mukluk also has mammal species of its own.
  • The Muklukians wear shirts with the letter “S” on them. This might stand for Solius.
  • At the end of the episode, Gordon and Curtis are returned home by a teleport beam resembling lightning.
  • Flo says that she, Bob, and Augie are “back from Grandma’s.” Since Flo’s parents were still together in "Captain Bobaroo," this either means that Bob’s mother is divorced or is a widow. They also had luggage, implying that she lived a distance away and they stayed over for some time. Alternatively, it could mean that Flo's father had passed away recently. That seems unlikely, as Flo would likely have commented on how her mother was coping with the loss. Flo's mother also did not like Bob very much, but he came home in a good mood, seemingly having enjoyed his stay at Grandma's.
