Plot Summary

Have You Seen Your Mother

Jake's mother Elaine stealing a broach from Kate's jewelry box.

Jake's mother, Elaine Ochmonek, visits from New York hoping that Jake will come back and stay with her. Jake insists that she receive professional help for her kleptomania before he will consider coming to live with her.

ALF witnesses her stealing a broach from Kate's jewelry box and confronts Jake about it. Jake admits that his mother is a kleptomaniac. Confused, ALF asked what’s that is, and Jake explained that it did a mental illness where people have trouble controlling taking things that don’t belong to them. Jake is also upset that his mother lied to him about being better so ALF suggested that Jake talk to his mother about it. Jake talks to his mother about it and convinces her to return it, ultimately deciding that he is not ready to move back to New York with her until she’s fully cured.
