Going Out of My Head Over You is the twentieth episode of ALF's first season.

Synopsis[]

Prologue[]

Brian is on the phone with a friend telling a white lie about why he can't host a sleepover. ALF has just recieved a joke kit from Taiwan and starts to annoy Willie

Act One[]

Willie explains to Brian about how lying is wrong but sometimes white lies are benign. ALF sprays Willie with a squirting flower. Mrs. Ochmonek comes over because she locked herself out of the house and waits until Trevor comes over. ALF then summons Willie into the kitchen while Raquel sits on ALF's whoopie cushion. ALF again sprays Willie with the squirting flower. Willie chides him for his childish behavior. Raquel leaves due to Willie trying to stop her from seeing ALF


That night ALF is sleeping in his room standing up with a box on his head, and Willie comes in to investigate the noise ALF is making. Willie then steps on tacks ALF left on the floor in his bare feet. In bed, Kate suggests that he plans to consult his psychologist friend Dr. Larry Dykstra for help since doctor patient confidentiality rules would prevent him from revealing anything to about ALF. The next day, Willie comes to see Larry, as he has some free time between appointments. Willie tells Larry about ALF but is skeptical until Willie shows him a Polaroid photo of ALF. Seeing the photo but he agrees to come over for dinner to talk to ALF.

Act Two[]

Back home, the family is preparing for Larry's visit at dinner. Lynn finds a fake ice cube with a bug inside. Willie tells ALF that his friend Larry is coming over and wants to talk to him. ALF then decides to be on much better behavior than usual to deceive Larry. ALF continues his charade, and lies to Larry about what normally goes on at dinner, and Willie angrily states this is not how ALF usually acts. Larry suggests that ALF and Willie play a role playing game and switch places. After that goes badly, ALF severely exaggerating the way Willie punishes him, and claims overly strict rules being made and implies that Willie wants to do boring things all the time. Larry suggests that ALF moves in with him. Willie refuses to let ALF go because he doesn't want to see him get caught. This opens up the discussion so that ALF and Willie tell each other that they do care about each other.

ALF agrees to try to calm down and Willie agrees to be a little more flexible with the rules. They all make a toast to communication,

Epilogue[]

Kate and Willie are falling asleep in bed, ALF comes in to wish them a good night, and ALF tucks Willie in.
