ALF is writing "I will not put food in Kate's Hat" many times on the refrigerator, having been told to write it but not where. Willie comes in with a magic trick kit, and tells ALF to guess a card that's in a deck. ALF fails to remember what card he picked before putting it back in the deck, but Willie guesses it correctly anyway because the deck is marked. ALF is amazed, but is upset that the magic won't make the writing on the refrigerator disappear.

Kate and Willie are watching TV and ALF interrupts them by starting a magic show. For his first trick he turns a flowerpot into shards by hitting it with a wand. ALF then asks for a volunteer for the next trick. Lynn comes in to ask for $10 and ALF says he'll try a disappearing money trick. Lynn puts the money into an envelope and then puts the envelope into a pan. ALF then tries to make it disappear with a blowtorch, but Willie says matches will do better, and Willie lights it up. ALF then asks Lynn to unpeel a banana, hoping to find the $10 bill inside, which doesn't work either, so ALF then says maybe the bill is in his Willie's wallet, but there is only a $20 in there which ALF says was even better, but Kate forced him to admit defeat.

Later ALF is in the kitchen trying new tricks, and Willie comes in. ALF the tries a new trick and asks Willie for his wristwatch. He gives ALF the watch, and he puts into a cloth sack and proceeds to hit it with a mallet several times. He waves his hand over the bag and says some magic words. Willie reaches into the bag and the watch feels intact but when he pulls it out, it falls apart.

In the morning Kate and Willie are in bed, and Willie wakes up to a white rabbit sitting on his chest Kate and Willie know right away that ALF is responsible. They go into the garage, and find that ALF has rented many other rabbits and magic supplies. He then pulls down a drape to reveal Brian sitting in a box and that ALF is going to saw the box in half with Brian inside it.

Kate and Willie immediately stop ALF from attempting it, and Lynn comes in with another one of the rabbits. Willie gives ALF a lecture about how he's a novice and should not attempt things like this yet. Later ALF is alone in the garage and Brian comes in with ALF sign learning ALF is giving it up. Brian convinces ALF to try one more time, by making him disappear. He climbs into another box with a curtain. ALF closed the curtain and when he opens it, Brian as gone. He closes and opens again, to reveal a rabbit inside. ALF suspects that Brian is hiding somewhere, but when Kate and Willie know nothing about it, he takes them out to the garage to tell them that Brian has been turned into a rabbit. Willie finds a secret compartment in the back of the box. Willie tells ALF that all the magic he sees on TV are tricks. Kate calls some of Brian's friends on the phone to see if he's over there. ALF keeps talking to the rabbit thinking it's Brian, now in a cage that used to house Brian's pet snake Captain EO Brian comes back into the house to reveal he was hiding inside the car because he wanted ALF to think that the trick worked. Lynn walks in to mention that the snake slithered into her gym bag

Plot Summary

ALF tries his hand at magic and thinks that he has accidentally made Brian disappear.

Teaser

ALF and Brian are preparing to do a magic trick. Lynn walks in to watch. ALF is using Kate's sun hat to mix in a batch of eggs and some batter. The trick fails to work and Kate's hat is ruined.

Act One
