ALF mentions how it's already tomorrow in Australia, and that he's trying to get an Australia to find a future copy of the newspaper to find out who won a horse race. Willie tries to explain to ALF why it won't work, but he gives up. They are then interrupted by a beeping sound on the radio which ALF recognizes as a Melmacian code, which means someone's trying to contact him,

Act One[]

The family comes into the garage, and ALF announces that he's decoded the message. Skip and Rhonda have bought a new planet and are inviting ALF to join them in creating a new Melmac. Willie says this is something that they should have expected might happen. ALF mentions they're coming and that he needs to decide what he wants to do. They're going to broadcast another message the next day. At the Alien Task Force headquarters they've intercepted the message from the ship, and feel strongly it's from aliens.

The next day, ALF and Brian are in the attic and find the "kick me" sign that ALF put on Brian before he went to school, and some other pranks ALF did on him. As Brian heads back downstairs, ALF slaps the sign on his back. That night ALF receives coordinates where the ship attends to land and that they only have enough fuel for one pass. They ask him what he wants to do and as they await his answer, they play the theme to Jeopardy! ALF says he's having a hard time making up his mind and Willie says to close his eyes and think of the first thing he sees. ALF responds with a Morse Code style message and tells the family he's going.

At the Alien Task Force, they intercepted ALF's message, and an angry supervisor demands that the code be cracked right away. After he leaves, one of the other staff mention that the boss is in a bad mood because his wife's in Bermuda

Brian gives ALF a drawing he made of Earth and ALF's new planet saying that they're not really going to be that far from each other. Kate then mentions to ALF about how they're not gotten along all the time, but his presences enriched their family taught them great survival skills. Willie then tells ALF how he's turned their lives inside out, but that he's also expanded their horizons and entertained them very much and that they'll miss him, and that him being happy in his new home will make missing him more bearable. Willie then hands him a gift... a piece of wood from the garage he crashed into, with a plaque on it telling him that next time he visits, to use the front door. ALF then thanks the family for taking him in and that his only regret as that he could not walk among humans unafraid, and to talk about the Lakers with random people, but that he'll be able to do that where he's going.

Later, The family is headed out to the car, and ALF remains in the house for a bit to say goodbye to it. He then heads out to the car.

At the Alien Task Force, a soldier announces they cracked the code, and that an alien spacecraft is about to rendezvous with one of their own, and that it's at a field just outside of Los Angeles. A supervisor tells them to alert LA and to keep a low profile.

In the car, ALF asks Willie to stop the car so he can use the bathroom, saying that it's hard to do in zero gravity. Meanwhile a convoy of Alien Task Force vehicles are headed to the rendezvous point, and headquarters mentions the UFO is being captured on radar. Willie pulls the car up and prepares to unload. An Alien Task Force member radios back saying that they've arrived and there is an unknown civilian vehicle on site asks what to do next.
