Bob Shumway (1332-1986) was a Melmacian mayo man and wire man. Like his father and grandfather, he was also an inventor.
He was the son of Grandpa and Grandma Shumway. His grandfather was the inventor of extra wide dental floss. (ATAS: "Thank Gordon for Little Girls") His great grandfather was Sherman Shumway, Supreme Commander of the Orbit Guard. (ATAS: "Two for the Brig")
Bob was the husband of Flo Shumway and the father of Gordon, Curtis, and Augie.

Bob recalled that Grandpa had impressed upon him the value of deferring to the judgement of experts. (ATAS: "Pride of the Shumways")
