Sega ALF

ALF recieved his first and only home console video game in either May [or possibly around Christmas] 1989. Developed by Nexa [a company merged with Spectrum Holobyte at the time]/Sphere and published by SEGA for their SEGA Master System home console as a North American exclusive release, the system which was SEGA's answer to the massively successful Nintendo Entertainment System a home console that was was mostly popular in North America and Japan, while SEGA's system failed to capture much of the North American and Japanese markets it managed to flourish in PAL territories such as Europe and especially Brazil, being a Master System cartridge game it is compatible with the handheld SEGA Game Gear using the Master Gear adapter.

The game is a side-scrolling with the object of controlling ALF as he goes around town attempting to retrieve the items he needs to repair his spaceship, so he can join his Melmacian friends in outer space. For some unknown reason, this requires him to use a salami to fend away the bats in an underground cave. he can also use scuba gear to be able to plunge to the bottom of the local pond.

According to programmer Kevin T. Seghetti the game was rushed for a 1989 release date likely leading to the games reportedly poor quality which became infamous enough for popular gaming youtuber The Angry Video Game Nerd to upload a review of the game in 2014, as of September 2023 his review has over 3.7 million views.
