Wille then goes into a tirade and tells ALF to dump the poison oak in the woods and not to hurry back.

The cabin's owner, Mr. Foley, comes to visit them in a vintage Ford F100 Panel truck. Willie talks about how Mr Foley repairs unwanted toys and delivers them to the hospital and gives them to kids staying there. Mr. Foley corrects Willie and says that he gives the toys to Santa who delivers them to the kids. He then mentions that his wife Margaret died 2 weeks earlier and did not have time to tell people.Meanwhile, ALF accidentally jumps into his trunk and is taken to a hospital. Mr Foley, dressed as Santa then brings the toys to the kids, including ALF pretending to be a doll. A girl named Tiffany is last in line and takes ALF.

Mr Foley brings ALF into Tiffany's room and she dubs him Amanda, and the nurse comes in to take Tiffany's temperature. The nurse then tucks Tiffany in, and leaves. Once she is gone Tiffany leaves her bed, and starts talking to ALF and giving him pretend tea, and a tray of cookies. ALF sneaks one of them, and Tiffany then talks about how her roommate was removed by her mother because she was worried about them becoming attached. Once she starts trying to dress ALF as a girl, he reveals his true identity and not to tell anyone. Tiffany gives ALF back to Mr Foley.

Mr.Foley then goes into the head doctor Ted Willoughby office and gives him a check for Christmas, He then tells him that Tiffany was very happy to see him as Santa, and shows him the newspaper article "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" He then tells Mr. Foley that Tiffany is dying and has less than a year to live. ALF overhears this and sneaks back into Tiffany's room. She then shows him some drawings she made of him and another one of her as an angel. She then asks him if he misses his home planet and ALF talks about how all his friends were there and misses, them but he made new friends on Earth. He says he has a hard time understanding Christmas, and she tells him that Christmas is about giving of yourself, which Mr Foley (as Santa) told her.

Meanwhile back at the cabin, Willie opened Mr. Foley's gift before Christmas which turns out to be the deed to the cabin. He wonders why someone he barely knows would to this,, and they notice ALF is missing.

Tiffany then tells him her secret that she's afraid of dying (moving on to another world) as she calls it. ALF tells her to think of her favorite things when she's upset. This makes her feel better and, says that maybe where she's going they might have Christmas year round. He tucks her in and sheds a tear as he leaves her room. Back near the cabin, the family is out in the woods with flashlights and a lantern searching for ALF,

ALF then sneaks around the hospital hallway trying to not be seen and hides under a gurney.. Meanwhile a couple Denise and Richard pulls up the emergency room outside. Denise is into labor. She's put on a gurney which ALF has hidden under. and the doctor then tells the nurse to give Richard a sedative. Once wheeled into the elevator, the door closes with her inside. Dr. Willoughby then tries to get Mr. Foley to help repair the elevator. ALF emerges from his hiding place wearing scrubs and a surgical mask. ALF assists with the delivery, and Richard can hear his newborn daughter crying. ALF then suggests the baby be named Tiffany after the dying girl he befriended.

Mr. Foley, no longer dressed as Santa, is starting to leave and Dr. Willougbhy stops him on his way out wanting to talk to him about the donation which was an extremely high amount belived to be his entire life savings. He denies it saying that it was a tax refund. He then walks out not wanting to come by day after Christmas to discuss it. Mr. Foley is on the road, and it's beginning to snow. He thenpulls his truck over on a bridge, steps out and prepares to end his life by jumping off into the freezing water below. ALF disguises himself as Santa and tells him not to. Foley thinks that ALF is the real Santa Claus, but asks why he's out here and not delivering toys. ALF says he's an executive Santa reminding Mr Foley of all the people he's helped and made happy. Mr. Foley talks about how he can't go on with his wife gone, and ALF tells Mr. Foley he has unfinished business and repeats to him what he as Santa told Tiffany. ALF then gets back in the truck asks to be driven back to the cabin because he wants to recruit Willie. Once there ALF enters the cabin by going headfirst down the chimney, much to the family's surprise.

That morning Mr. Foley is back in the hospital repairing Tiffany's bed, The Tanners arrive, sans ALF, and tell her they have a mutual friend and showing a picture of ALF. Brian then gives Tiffany some Christmas presents, and Willie asks Mr. Foley about the deed to the cabin, and says they don't have much use for it, so takes it back and invites them back next year. Kate suggests to Tiffany that she looks out her window where she sees ALF in the Tanner's car. A voiceover from Mr. Foley repeats the reading of "Yes Virgina, there is a Santa Claus"
