"Take Me ALF to the Ballgame" is a song included on a record that came with an ALF doll that Burger King promoted in the 1980s.
Lyrics:
ALF:
The score was six and a half to nothing
on the bouillabaseball field that day.
The Litwhack Chowders were winning
and the sky was a greenish gray.
But when they saw me coming
all of Melmac yelled, "Hooray!"
(CROWD: Boo! Get rid of the rube!)
ALF:
They knew their luck was changing.
It was ALFer's turn to play.
Did I crack under pressure?
Did I buckle under his knuckler?
Not Gordon Shumway
I turned to the roaring crowd and I said,
Take me, ALF, to the ballgame.
Now it's my turn to bat.
It's my favorite of all games
and I'll knock this scuttminder flat.
Lob a couple of fishheads
and I'll send them into the clouds.
Take me, ALF, to the ballgame.
I love the roar of the crowds.
The Chowders all were terrified.
The thrower was a wreck.
He winds it up and lets it fly
and it hits me in the neck.
Yikes!
UMPIRE: Strike one!
ALF: Strike? He beaned me with a trout ball! Where'd you win your umpire license, in a lottery?
Melmac's honor was at stake.
I looked out to the mound.
But this one hits me in the leg
and it knocks me to the ground.
UMPIRE: Strike two!
ALF: Strike?
UMPIRE: Yes, strike! It struck you didn't it?
ALF:
I gripped the bat and braced myself
for the third and final swing.
And just to throw the thrower off
I took time out to sing.
Lob a couple of fishheads
and I'll send them into the clouds.
Take me, ALF, to the ballgame.
'cause I love the roar of the crowds.
The crowd was going crazy.
Screaming out my name.
(GIRL IN CROWD: Hey, Shumway! Take a shower!)
ALF:
The thrower lobbed a wicked curve.
It whistled as it came.
I met it straight and steady.
I connected with a crack.
(ANNOUNCER: It's going. It's going. It's out of here.)
ALF:
It took off like a rocket
an it's never coming back.
Take me, ALF, to the ballgame.
Hear the crack of my bat.
It's my favorite of all games
I knocked that sucker flat.
I'm a bouillabaseball hero
'cause I sent it into the clouds. Ha!
Take me, ALF, to the ballgame.
'cause I love the roar of the,
just adore all the,
love the roar of the crowds.
Hey, not bad for a 230 year old rookie, huh? Ha!
